What are the competitions like?

There are two forms of coastal competitions:

  • Racing 4-6 kilometers around several turning points, a challenge for endurance, skill, navigation and adaptability.
  • Beach Sprint, beach or surf growing, is a kind of one against one elimination race: a short sprint on the beach to the boat, row 250 meters, around the turning buoy back to the beach, and a final sprint to the finish.

What are Coastal Rowboats?

Coastal rowing boats are wide stable boats, suitable for rough open water and waves, such as along the coast. The boats have a bow that cuts through waves easily and an open stern to easily drain incoming water.

In which boat types is coastal rowing used?

The single boats are coastal skiffs, or Coastal1x.
In the coastal doubles, Coastal 2x, two people are rowed.
In the largest coastal rowing boat, a Coastal quad plus or 4x+, 4 people row, plus a cox steers.
